A brass-coloured gas jet (nozzle) for built-in gas hobs, stamped 45. It is a small hex piece with a threaded shank and a fine hole at the top.
The jet sits under the burner and lets a set amount of gas through to the flame. The number stamped on a jet marks the size of its hole, so a jet with a different number gives a bigger or smaller flame.
