The whistle (weight valve) for Prestige pressure cookers that use the 23 mm stainless steel weight valve: all Prestige Popular aluminium cookers, all Prestige Hard Anodised cookers, and the Prestige Svachh Alpha Deluxe stainless steel cookers, pressure pans and handi.
It sits on the steam vent of the lid. When the cooker reaches its working pressure the weight lifts and lets steam out: that is the whistle. Replace it when the whistle does not come or comes very late, steam escapes all the time, or the weight is bent, loose or lost.
It comes as the full assembly in Prestige's box (SS 23 mm Weight Valve Assembly, SKU 61323). If a cooker keeps heating without whistling, turn off the flame, let it cool fully, and do not force the lid open.
