The base carries a four-wing cross blade on top and a black coupler underneath. It is the screw-on kind of jar that Wonderchef's Nutri-blend mixers use.
The tall jar with the cross blade is the one for shakes and smoothies. Replace it when the jar is cracked, the base no longer screws on tightly or leaks, or the blade is blunt or bent.
